Current Monthly Prayer

Easter 2012

God of all Creation,

We thank you for the message of resurrection through Jesus Christ.
May that message of resurrection inspire us to be resurrection Christians in our daily lives - both in how we act and how we respond to others.
We pray that there will be a real sense of renewal and revival in our personal lives reaching out to those whose own circumstances are blighted by actions of their own doing and those beyond their control.
Jesus Christ ministered to all who would listen and respond.

God of all Creation, may we seek to follow His example in listening for your Word and then responding.

Amen.

Autumn 2011

Dear God,

Autumn coloured leaves transform our landscape of trees,
Before winter frosts reveal the starkness of the silhouetted bark.
Cold days and nights await the homeless in that starkness.
Denied what many take for granted, lost in a sofa surfers cycle.
Enabling God, empower us, God, through your Holy Spirit.
Find in us that Christ like act that reaches out in word and action.
God of the weak and helpless,
Help us respond
In ways as yet unimagined.
Jesus at the centre of our being,
Kept alive through our response in
Love.

Amen.

Pentecost 2011

Spirit of new life breath on us, breath of God. Fill us with a real sense of your Being, your Caring and your Loving. At this time of Pentecost may we marvel at the story of the power of God Transforming ordinary individuals through the inspiration of your Holy Spirit. May we too be moved by the power of the Holy Spirit to be there for others Comforting the lonely and sad Welcoming the marginalised Bringing hope where there is despair. Lord God, send your Spirit once more at this time of Pentecost That we may delight in Your Presence and share your love with one another. Fill us with a real sense of your Being, your Caring and your Loving. Spirit of new life breath on us, breath of God.

Amen.

Easter 2011

We pray for all those in need of stability in their lives. Those who are anxious about their future in terms of employment prospects, redundancy or workload. Those who face a bleak future through unemployment, illness or bereavement. Those for whom the future seems daunting, overwhelming or distressing. Lord God help us through our prayers to bring comfort to those in need, may they feel your love in their lives supporting and upholding them through their difficult times.

Lord God we pray for those areas of the world where the relative peace and security, we too often take for granted, is but a distant dream. May it be that leaders of countries, and others in powerful positions of influence, are guided by your Will to work for the good of those under their control and to eliminate injustice in all its forms. May it be that each of us responds to the needs of others following the example of Jesus Christ and we pray that this Easter time may be a time for renewal recommitment and resolve in striving to do Your Will.

Amen.
